I rate myself as a cook. And I am not bad at baking either. One thing I cannot do though, and it kills me, is ice cookies. I look at blog posts and vlogs on how to do it. It looks so easy. It’s possible I have some type of icing dyslexia or something – but try as I might – it’s an epic fail. A.L.W.A.Y.S. So when we decided that we would make something for Fathers Day (anything we usually buy gets grateful received and then bunged in a drawer – never to be used again) we sought professional help and took ourselves to Biscuiteers.
Whilst you’re finally through HTH (Half Term Hell) I thought I would introduce you to the best thing to happen to kids since Disneyland, Universal and all those now, rather MEH kids adventure parks so that school holidays at home, need never be painful again. KidZania.
Those of you who live in West London, may have seen some rather strange goings on, on top of Westfield shopping centre over the last year. This will explain it. This child-size city is the equivalent in size to Leicester Square, with the ceiling height of Heathrow Terminal Five, and is the UK’s first Educational Entertainment Experience.
KidZania London is a real-life introduction to the world of work, representing experiential learning at its very best, where children begin to understand and learn for themselves the nature of work, the diversity and function of businesses, and its overall contribution to well-being and prosperity in our world today – all in a way that is quite the opposite of boring.
One of my twins is an obsessive fashion designer in the making. Since she was 2 years old, she’s been drawing beautiful princesses on anything and everything. With elaborate hair and dresses. She has beeen single minded since then about what she wants to be when she grows up. A fashion designer. I would prefer Doctor – save a lot more money – but it will definitely do.
So your kids have broken up. No school runs. No lunches to make. No morning rush. Yay! Or it it?
Instead – “Mum, I’m bored” “Mum – what can I do now” “Mum can you help me with making this super complex thing on my Rainbow Loom” “Mum – can you play Monopoly with me” “Mum I’m hungry” “Mum – can you switch the TV on, off, change channels, put a DVD on”…..AAAAAAAAARGH!
Roll on September I say. So here are THE things you need to give your kids some back to school cool when that J.O.Y.O.U.S. day comes round! Let’s go!
Ahhhh, sun, sea and …OK so that got you into this mess in the first place.
Now what I was not prepared to do once I had birthed those offspring of mine – was give up on going to nice places on holiday. Yes – good for the kids – but not having them in my face all day. My face was to be upright pointing at the sun – or buried in a good book. If you don’t have that – it’s NOT a holiday. It’s what I call – same rubbish – warmer climate!
So how delighted was I, when the brilliant people at boutique hotel booking service Mr & Mrs Smith decided to extend their eye for a great place, into the family marketplace – with the launch of Smith & Family. And for you today my lovelies – I have an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Tamara Heber-Percy – the co-founder, all about holidays and travelling with kids. Let’s go….
