With everything that’s going on weather-wise in New York, it’s been on my mind. Not that it’s ever off my mind. It’s my sprititual home. Nothing must ruin it!
On my recent tripette there, I met up with the super-cool Katherine Edmonds, owner of Wovenplay. To those who are not familiar with the brand, firstly, it’s probably one of the most editorial, original and beautiful brands for kids, and secondly you’re not my friend.
Even though my spiritual home is New York, actually..a cross between New York and a paradise island like Bora Bora – I’m very proud to be BRITISH. It has crept up on me that actually Britain is at the pinnacle of fashion. We ain’t followers no more. WE IS LEADERS!
And leading the way in championing British Style for kids, is retailer IndiaCoco. For kids aged 0-8 it is awash with British big hitters like No Added Sugar and ilovegorgeous. Set up by Claire Harper who is the former Marketing Director of award winning nursery and fashion retailer Mamas & Papas – this is one mumpreneur who knows the score!
AND AND AND Claire has very kindly given us a VOUCHER for £75 to spend at her store! Here’s my TOP 10 of what you can spend it on…..

I’ve had a FASHION ORGASM. I’m basking in the afterglow. And here’s why…
These beauties are part of a five year collaborative project between H&M and UNICEF called All for Children. The aim is protect kids rights in cotton producing areas of Tamil Nadu India, one of the country’s largest cotton-producing states, and give them access to education. Funds are raised via 25% of the sales price of each item being put back into the project.
The collection has been created around an illustrated book Daisy & Leon, which will be sold as part of the collection. The line includes both smart and casual pieces (and PIECES they are let me tell ya!) for boys and girls aged 1-8 years, and is complemented by accessories and home interiors. Check it…
The range will be sold though selected H&M stores and online from Thursday 18th October. BUT the big big news is that the FAAAAAAHBULOUS Little Fashion Gallery (one of my shopping pets) is the only retailer outside of H&M to carry the full collection. Marie Soudre-Richard, LFG’s founder says that H&M “..felt as a business, LFG has a reputation for trendsetting and that we would be an ideal brand to partner with them on this project.”
I want the lot. And I want it NOW! And what a fabulously worthy reason to justify my spend!
As you know, I met the FABULOUS Jools Oliver and saw her collection Little Bird at the Mothercare’s Christmas in July press event. I also had a good old look at what Mothercare had to offer. And it KNOCKED MY LITTLE SILK SOCKS OFF let me tell you!
Baby K has always been a strong collection and Autumn/Winter 2012 didn’t disappoint. Look here…..
And then there was the Mothercare main line. Check these gems I picked out….I actually had to tell the Director of Marketing that I thought some pieces were TOO cheap. I could cry! I’ll have 10 of each! Check it….
So, share my pleasure people. And with prices like these for such stylish goodies, it will be your bank manager’s pleasure too! Enjoy!
Here’s a little idea I’ve had for you. A BUSINESS IDEA. Yes, yes – you still have a brain! And – ooooh wouldn’t it be great to be one of those ‘Mumpreneurs’. Actually, we won’t use that term because it makes me feel quite nauseous. ENTREPRENEUR! Take a look at Swedish kids clothes and accessories brand me&i.
I thought ‘now this is a winner’ for anyone who fancies doing something in addition to nappies, school run, vomit clearing and general mothering/slave duties.
You see they have a different business model to other kids brands – they are a HOME SALE brand. Their clothes cannot be found in shops or online. They are sold by representatives (educated by me&i) at their homes, and other people’s homes. A bit like a Tupperware party if you’re more……’Jamie’s Dinners’, or Ann Summers party – if you’re more….. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’!
I caught up with Helene one of the owners. They set up the business in 2004 to create “colourful, playful, unisex clothes of high quality” using their own designs and prints, inspired by travels around the world. She said they decided on the home sales route “because we liked the idea of mum’s buying clothes and having a good time together with friends at the same time”.
“High quality has always been key for us – it is very important you can wash our clothes over and over again without the colour changing, or the item shrinking..we want siblings to inherit me&i”. And for your information, their top representatives are earning around £100 per hour! Think of the new handbags, extra holidays, petit sprees etc…
AND AND AND here’s what I have for you my lovelies – if you sign a contract to become sales representative by 31st July 2012 they will give you £100 worth of clothes FREE!!! And let’s do some quick Maths – that £100 – can quickly become £200! Selfridges, here I come……
Contact them here and all you need to do is quote KIDSTYLEJUNKIE and you’re in business. Stylishly of course……
