Happy birthday to Prince George who is turning one on July 22nd. I decided not to write up what presents we can get him – frankly all he needs in my opinion is a good pair of skinny jeans, a hoodie and some funking high tops. This whole twee look is not doing it for me. Sorry. Please don’t chop my head off.
So instead of presents we thought we would create a ‘Little Prince Party’ to celebrate his first birthday. And when I say ‘we’ – I refer to the brilliant Charlotte Saye from the super stylish party store The Carousel Show. I shall now place you in her very capable hands…
The first birthday is really a great excuse to give yourselves as parents a great big slap on the back… you have made it! As dreamy as that first year is, it also a big learning curve.
We have gone for a glitter theme. This table display is mainly for the mummies and daddies i.e. we have kept it chic… (there is plenty of time for Disney themed parties further down the line)
Mix and match the tableware to keep it interesting, our My Little Day range is particularly good for this. Create your own cake stand using paper plates and cups. Just ensure you add a dab of glue to keep it all together (a glue gun works particularly well for this.)
We have created a very simple cake by drizzling several layers of icing onto a victoria sponge cake. The decoration is one of our Crowns (lined it with a second crown to make it double sided) and some edible glitter…. As simple as it gets!
Icing sugar is your best friend, a light sprinkling of it adds an instant ‘French’ feel to your baked goods. It’s also a great way of cheating as you can buy shop bought cakes and no one will be any the wiser.
The little stars on the cakes can be found here.
Each place setting gets their own Glittery Crown. Why not create a DIY photobooth and get a photo of all your party guests in their crowns to mark the occasion.
A Star Garland thrown across the table makes a great decoration.
Popcorn and marshmallows can be jazzed up with some edible glitter and a star here and there…
Finally, celebrate all of your hard work in year one with a glass of prosecco – for a touch of magic add a sprinkling of the edible glitter into each glass once poured….
