Just because Halloween is a festival of fright, doesn’t mean your kids need to look frightful. I mean, in what they wear. Looks, I’m afraid I cannot help with.

I digress. Oh yes, we all know you can buy costumes from party shops or supermarkets (do not get the clown masks though!!!!) but even the supermarkets have some faboooolously stylish pieces that work super well for any party or trick or treating. So, without further ado, here are my Top 10 pieces.

Camille Walala x Labour of Love Kids Fashion Collaboration

Now unless you have been living under a stone, or maybe in some Amish community that has no electricity – you will have heard of the brilliant vlogger Mother Pukka. Now we know her and we like her. She is very very funny. And pretty. Actually, maybe we hate her? No, we are not that shallow. Anyway, I digress. On her hugely popular Instagram, she often seen posing in front of a rather striking graphic wall. Now that wall is why we are all gathered here today.

The wall has been painted/muralised whatever by the amazing graphic artist Camille Walala. Camille Walala is a purveyor of powerfully positive digital print. A graduate in Textile Design from the University of Brighton, her namesake brand was established in East London in 2009, where she continues to live. Yes, she is one of those hipster-types and not only is she achingly cool – her work is off the charts cool.

And now kids can get a piece of Walala action as she has created a capsule collection for Labour of Love.  It’s first brand in the UK to collaborate with Camille and they have taken her punchy signature prints and redesigned them onto their new range which is available for women, men and kids.

HM Studio

I’m going to make my first week back all about fashion – darlings. (Word association, sorry). And because it’s Back to School Week and we all have a ton of school admin crap to read (or not if you are me), I shall make this post light on words, heavy on pictures. Let’s begin here.

HM Studio Kids AW16 Fashion Style

All I have to say is look at this brilliant new Studio AW16 kids collection by H&M (yes – believe it).

This collection is where powerful tailoring meets Swedish heritage and handicraft. Using patterns and embellishments from Swedish folklore, the collection’s details and textures draw inspiration from animals of the forest. Oh yes siree. Here are more more MORE images – click on each image to see the full picture. Then drool.

Top 10 Purrrrrfect Cat Fashion Pieces for Kids for AW16

Did anyone else let our a giant WHOOP of yesterday (once the kisses and assurances that everything was going to be OK) on your kids’ first day back at school? I’ll start. ME!  Now don’t get me wrong. I do adore my kids. Just in ever so slightly smaller doses than you get from 24/7 for 8 weeks on the trot. Like THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (insert giant hand width) MUCH!

Now, as well as back to school heralding the end of summer – it also means the start of winter. Not in the literal sense, but most certainly in the wardrobe sense. And as always at KSJ HQ, we like our readers to be on top on trends. So over the coming weeks, we shall be paying attention to our fave AW16 trends and how to get the look for them kids. Today – it’s purrrrrrrrrrfecty obviously, about cats. My favourite type of cat. One that is not a living actual creature. So, to the CATwalks we go…

First up Gucci. My complete obsession and unrequited love – largely due to my epic fail of not having married a billionaire. Next we have Loewe – which I was told, in a very passive-agressive way some years ago by a complete bit£% i used to work with at a designer fashion brand, is pronounced Low-aire-vey. Whatevs – they too had cats!

Exclusive Kids Fashion Video Interview with Mère Soeur

Have you ever met someone who inspires you and depresses you at the same time? Meet Carrie-Anne Roberts. She’s a beautiful and achingly cool 26 year old mother to an equally gorgeous 18 month old boy called River, who is living her dream thanks to Instagram – having started out on the shop floor of Lush.

In 2015 she created Mère Soeur – a lifestyle brand dedicated to celebrating inspiring mums. Printing T-shirts and tote bags with slogans such as “Raising the Future” or “Mama Gang” we can thank her for putting the some of the sass back into sisterhood.

And finally, after a year of requests, she has created a line for 0-5 year olds. Inspired by her son, and creating clothes she wanted him to wear, the line is playful and cute but still super cool. As she says ” It’s the dream ensemble for a cheeky, curious short one with style.”

So now she is in the world of kids fashion, the time had come for me and my blog pal Anna Cascarina from Little Flea to chat to Carrie-Anne to find out about how it all started for her, how the kids line developed, the #mystory Instagram exhibition she was part of, and then there was an inevitable discussion about breastfeeding that, well, you need to watch.
