Smiski – New Collectable Figurines for Kids from Sonny Angel

Anyone that knows me, knows that I am still in many many ways a small child. I really need to get my own way. As an extension of this – I can throw tantrums – sometimes involving foot stamping. I prefer to eat crisps and chocolate rather than a real meal. I also have a slightly concerning obsession with Hello Kitty and anything cute or Kawaii – as us professionals of cuteness call it. I also like to collect things – as a kid – mainly perfume samples, and as an adult – shoes and bags. And today’s post, falls very neatly into that category.

Made by the creators of another super cute collectible obsession in our house – Sonny Angels – Smiski is a fun little creature that glows in the dark and likes to hide in the corner.

These are curious creatures that love hiding in small spaces and corners of your room.

Although they like to stay hidden, you might discover one at night as they mysteriously glow in the dark. It is interesting to see the many types of Smiski all with different personalities.

However, just why the exist in the first place, nobody quite knows. Actually I do – it’s so saddos like me buy them, because we still have this hangover from our youth about collecting things that we want our kids to embrace.

Like their more colourful, bottom-out cousins Sonny Angels, these guys are too sold in a blind box – so it’s a surprise what you get.

And what I like about these, over the Sonny Angels, is that these are great for boys to collect too – the Sonny Angels are a bit girly. These are Series 1 and there are 7 to collect. They cost around £3.50 plus shipping from Sonny Angels.

Bubble Baby Bed

If there has EVER been a good reason to throw the contraceptives and mount your husband it’s this.

Ta daaaaaaaa! The Bubble Baby Bed. And breathe. Have you literally EVER seen anything so gorgeous?
The Bubble Baby Bed is an innovative transparent rocking crib designed by Lana Agiyan. The idea came from plastic baby bassinets that are used in Hospitals: made from acrylic plastic they are safe, easy to care, hygienic and very appealingly transparent. The crib is being produced in Finland by the same company that makes Eero Aarnio 1960’s original classic the Bubble Chair. You can probably see the likeness.

It has the movement kinetics resembling tilting dolls: once pushed, it returns to the upright position in series of slowing tilts. When the baby moves his hands and feet in the bed, the crib gently rocks on it’s own, putting the child back to sleep. The crib has a stopper ring that makes overturning impossible.

The bed is safe for babies from birth up to six months, and can be converted into a playpen afterwards.

The crib won a Well-Tech technology innovation award in 2013. More importantly, they also win an award from me titled – “The only thing I have come across in 9 years since having my own babies, that has made me want to have more”! It is available in a few colours and costs €2,990. Not cheap I know – but come on! Those stretch marks are SO deserving of it!! Get baby busy at Bubble Baby Bed.

Prehistoric Planters for Kids Spaces

About 5 years ago, in the midst of my Mad Men binge watching, I fell in love. Well, of course with Don Draper – that goes without saying. But actually I fell in love, with a plant. This is sad, but true. I photographed the plant on the TV screen like the sad old lady I am, and took it to the florist to ask what it was called. Then filled my house with them. Yes, I started the succulent plant revolution. Well, maybe not THE, but certainly A succulent revolution. Well, in my house anyway.
